Embracing the elegance of its surroundings, this unique event at The Godfrey Hotel effortlessly let the space speak for itself. With a focus on simplicity and sophistication, guests were invited to experience two unforgettable occasions in one stunning setting, the rehearsal dinner followed by the welcome party. Held in the rooftop lounge and Michigan Room, the event took full advantage of the hotel’s versatile event spaces, offering breathtaking views and a stylish atmosphere. Guests enjoyed smooth jazz music, delicious food and drinks, and an evening filled with laughter and celebration, setting the perfect tone for the weekend ahead.
The evening began with an intimate rehearsal dinner, bringing together those who would play a special role in the wedding. Held in the Michigan Room of The Godfrey Hotel, the space exuded a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere. The room’s sleek black and white palette, accented by intricate prints on the curtains and ceiling, created a timeless and elegant backdrop. Pops of emerald green from the rug added a subtle yet striking contrast. To complement the space, we embraced the monochrome theme with white florals, chairs, menus, vases, candles, and table linens, while carefully chosen black accents—like charger plates, satin napkins, custom name tags on the menus, and black flatware—brought a touch of depth and elegance. The overall ambiance was one of warmth and intimacy, setting the stage for heartfelt moments and quiet conversation in a space that felt both personal and luxurious.
To enhance the intimacy of the rehearsal dinner, G+S made the thoughtful decision to have speeches shared during this event, rather than waiting for the reception. This small but meaningful change created a deeply personal atmosphere, making the speeches even more impactful as they were delivered in front of the couple’s closest friends and family. The intimate setting allowed for genuine, heartfelt words to be exchanged, making the moment all the more special and memorable.
Next came the welcome party, a celebration for out-of-town guests and close family and friends to gather and toast to G+S before their big day. The theme remained cohesive, seamlessly integrating the all-white florals into the Rooftop Lounge with elegant black and clear glass vases. The breathtaking views from every angle were truly unforgettable, guests gazed up at the stars through the all-glass roof, while the floor-to-ceiling windows offered a stunning panoramic view of Detroit’s skyline. The soft melodies of jazz music floated through the air, mingling with the warmth of laughter and lively conversation. The atmosphere was filled with joy, creating a festive yet intimate setting that perfectly captured the essence of this special pre-celebration.
